During starting Inventor first time this morning I got the message...
"An unhandled exception occurred in your 3DxWare driver session, would you like to save a diagnostic file?" Yes/No (which I have saved, but is no use to me)
...followed by a '3DxSrv has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem...' which of course it doesn't find.
I have not changed anything on the system since yesterday when it was working fine. Wndows hasn't auto-updated as far as I can tell.
I reinstalled the 3dxsoftware, but is still the same. The driver only crashed when I start inventor. I can run the demos ok.
In application log:
Faulting application 3dxsrv.exe, version 16.5.4.0, time stamp 0x471e6709, faulting module MSVCR80.dll, version 8.0.50727.312, time stamp 0x4536ee36, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0000000000086c04, process id 0xda8, application start time 0x01c838b1c3184ad3.
I have the 3DxWare.dmp file I can email (can't attach here?).
Running Inventor 2008 SP2, Vista64 Ultimate. I have checked the device (Naviagtor SE) on another machine and it works fine.
Unhandled exception: Inventor 2008 / Vista64

If I unplug the device Inventor does not crash.
If I remove the Inventor plug-in, and leave 3dxware running then when Inventor starts the splash screen is not shown (as you would expect). Inventor does not crash. However, the blue light on the device goes out just as the first document is opened, and is inoperative. 3Dxware is still shown in systray, you can 'open window', Inventor is listed as app. No add-in present in Inventor.
