Switch buttons 90 degrees, spacemouse

Post by blatherdough »

I've got the 2 button device.
I want to use the buttons most convenient, and rotate the device 90degrees to the right (clockwise). The wire is on the right side of the spacemouse.

What do I need to change exactly in the .xml to achieve this? I've tried fiddling around some of the HID output rules, but it's always a mess using the mouse.

After a change in the Base.xml file like mention here: https://forum.3dconnexion.com/viewtopic ... ees#p76740
  • I close all the 3dconnexion stuff in the windows 10 task manager,
  • Double click the 3DxNS_Local
  • Open Blender
  • and test
If it doesn't work, I repeat the above steps. So walk me through it, and explain it to me like I'm a 10 year old baboon because I don't get it.

If I get a reply in a few days, I'm happy. If not, happy new year! < this is sarcasm off course. I do think the support is very, very slow with responding. Nothing personal.
I'm still waiting on a reply about a possible defect mouse I bought a few weeks ago: CASE:115546 and CASE:114002 (this one doesn't matter anymore, I switched to Windows) took you guys a few months to answer. Yes, I switched to windows because of this problem.

I don't know what you tried. Hopefully you didn't copy the "..."s into the XML file.

You can PM your file to me if you want and I'll try to help you.

3DxNS_Local is not something you will ever run. Use the StartMenu shortcuts to stop and start the driver.

Before I'd mess with the driver, I'd look into the Blender UI. I'd be very surprised if they didn't allow you to swap axes around.

You're fast!

Difficult to explain but here I go.
  • Checked the blender settings, can swap the Y&Z. Can't swap the X&Y and if I'm not mistaken, these are the one I want.
Checked a lot of stuff, don't know which one rules over the other.

and I'll PM the Base.xml

Thanks for your help :D

Their Y&Z swap probably refers to the "zoom direction". That is whether you go into the screen by pushing up/down toward the desktop vs pushing in/out toward the monitor. It's sometimes a personal preference. Our GUI offers a similar option. We discourage its use, especially in a 3D scene application like Blender with a horizon. You should think of moving yourself around in the depicted 3D world.

Your Base.xml looks fine. What happens with it?

If you have a user Blender.xml file in %appdata%\3dconnexion\3dxware\cfg, then you will have to put those Base.xml entries in there instead. The %appdata% file will be override the defaults defined in Base.xml.

It worked

%appdata%\3dconnexion\3dxware\cfg was the key. Thanks alot, fixed in 1 day!

Is it possible you can check CASE:115546? Or do I need to wait till I get a response?

Good to hear.
I'll ask about the customer support case (not my dept).

If I want to perform the same trick in macOS BigSur
  • Is it possible?
  • How to?

Hi blatterdough,

your case is being handled. You still need to send a copy of the invoice.
