Snap functionality using SpacePilot and Maya

Post by Kasper Larsen »

Hi

I am currently doing some polygon modeling using Maya, and I found myself using the SnapToCurve toggle (c key) a lot. I would really like to map this toggle to one of the buttons on my SpacePilot, but I can't seem to find the command. Does anyone have a suggestion to how I can do this?

Just one more thing. How can I change the names of my custom configurations - PolygonModeling, NURBSModeling etc. ?

Thanks
Kasper

Hi Kasper,

Which version of Maya and Windows do you use?

To toggle "Snap to Curve" you can do the following:

1. Start Maya
2. Open the 3DxWare Control Panel (start->programs...)
3. Go to the "Button Configuration" tab
4. Click on "Custom Functions..."
5. Make sure that the active configuration is "Maya - %username%"
6. Click on "New" and name the macro "SnapToCurve"
7. Enter "snaptocurve" into the User Macro field
8. Click on "save" - "Done" - "OK"

You should now find "SnapToCurve" in the 3DxWare category of your Button Mapping Editor.

To rename your mappings you can right-click on "Mapping" (next to your configuration) and select "Rename Mapping".
