3dxware driver for Citrix
Moderator: Moderators
Thanks for your reply, and ideed I did follow the directions...
When using the SN on the local XP workstation it works fine. When I then stop the driver (and the lights on the SN go out) I start a Citrix session and in the session click on 'Start Driver'.
When I turn on logging on the Windows 2003 server, this is what I get:

It does not seem to matter if I try to start the driver from an RDP session from a Linux machine or from our test Windows XP station with Citrix. In both cases I get the same logfile entries.
I use one of the latest Citrix clients 10.x I don't mind using an older one if that proves to be the solution, but at this moment I doupt if it's even reaching the client (because the log always shows the same info with RDP or Citrix).
Where can I look at or what can I try?

It looks like 3DxCitrix is not installed correctly on the 10.1 client. I've been informed that this doesn't work. The upgrade from pre-10 to 10 works though. You'll have to install a pre-10 version, then install the 3DxCitrix client and give it a try. If you then do an upgrade to 10.1, it should work (they migrate the changes in the upgrade). Sorry, that is all the information I have now.
Hi Jim,
I have been asked to look into this again.
Can I please get a copy of the latest and greatest Citrix driver. A url would work or you can email a zip file but please make sure to rename all file extensions as Excahnge will strip attachments (exe, msi, zip).
Is there a white page on the setup and install for both the server and client? I know we had issues getting it to work in the past and cannot remeber where we left off.
Thank you,
Chris

Hi Chris,
There are two, what I would consider betas, on the ftp site mentioned on the first page. There seem to be problems with the 64-bit release. We are actively working with Citrix on resolving the problems.
They only work with the latest Citrix environments.
Give the 32-bit beta a go if you want.

I am connecting through Citrix Access Gateway to a Global Layer 4 to access my Catia v5 license to enable an un-nodelocked session.
On the local machine while disconnected from GL4 I am able to bring up my Space Explorer Control Panel.
However once I log into GL4 and start my Catia session the Space Explorer does not work inside of the application itself. I am still able to bring up the control panel and move with in Device Configuration. But, I go back into Catia and it doesn't have any operability.

Addendum to last post; this is the product we're using:

Hello Jim,jwick wrote:I have at times had problems running the install on the server (no problem on the client). I've had to run it in a command window (rather than just double clicking on it). I've also had to specify the ICACLIENTDIR on the command line.
Such as:
C:\> msiexec /I "3DxCitrix_v3-0-0_win32.msi" ICACLIENTDIR="C:\Program Files\Citrix\ICA Client"
You need 3DxWare 6.x installed beforehand. This can be downloaded inside 3DxSoftware 3.x from www.3dconnexion.com.
Remember that you have to install the 3DxWare on both the client and the server, but don't start it automatically in either. You probably have to edit the Startup folder to remove the automatic startup entry.
Then you have to install the 3DxCitrix add-on on both the server and the client. Be careful to only install the server feature on the server and the client feature on the client.
Finally to run, open a Citrix window into the server from the client. Start the driver inside that window only. Start a 3Dx demo from the start menu in that window to test it. Then you can try running your app.

It looks like this thread has been dormant for a bit, and someone at technical support said the Citrix support was abandoned, but I'm hoping you will read and reply to this post as we have several dozen users that all use Citrix almost exclusively for Pro/E work and would like to use SpacePilots (I have a PRO).
My client machine is running 32 bit WinXP Pro SP3 with Citrix XenApp Online Plug-in v11.2. My server machine is running Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 SP2 with XenApp Presentation Server v4.5.6. I installed 3DxWare v3.9, v6.9 driver, 4.11 firmware (latest) on both systems...took startup entry out for both systems, and ensured that service was not started. I studied & followed the steps from these posts (the quoted one seeming to be the most detailed/complete). I have yet to get it to work, but I still have hope.
1st question: Is there any hope of getting this to work, or are the files known to be too outdated and support for Citrix completely abandoned?
If there is any hope, one thing I'm not sure of is whether to run the 32-bit or 64-bit .msi on the server b/c it's a 64-bit OS, but the ICA Client seems to be 32-bit (it's located @ C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\ICA Client). I tried the 64-bit first, then the 32-bit when that didn't work. Below is a log file from my latest attempt at starting the service. It gives an error about using an old device dll "ICASrvDev.dll", which makes it seem that installation was correct, but that the .dll is outdated and incompatible with the latest 3dXWare.
Also, I was wondering if you could explain what changes are being made by each MSI file (i.e. certain files copied to certain locations, registry entries, services starting, etc.) so that I can manually verify that these steps were completed correctly. On the client side, I used the /i switch to specify the ICACLIENTDIR, but it created a folder "C:\ICACLIENTMSIINSTALLDIR" and copied "3DxVCD.dll" to that folder. I manually copied that DLL to "C:\Program Files\Citrix\ICA Client" thinking that's where its supposed to be. On the server side, I got an error message about not being able to start the Magellen service (during the 64-bit install), so I found and manually started the service (C:\Program Files\3Dconnexion\3Dconnexion 3DxSoftware\3DxWare64\Mgl3DCtlrRPCService.exe). When I tried the 32-bit install, I got errors about not being to copy the service, then not being able to start it, and couldn't find another .exe to start manually (I would have expected it to be here: "C:\Program Files (x86)\3Dconnexion\3Dconnexion 3DxSoftware").
Any insight or help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. If there are any tests I can run or information I can provide to assist, please let me know.
Thanks,
Malcolm
