Problem running 3DS MAX 2008 64 bits

Post by shelghost »

Hi there,

everytime I am trying to run 3DS MAX (64bits), I get the following message : "DLL <C> failed to initialize. Error code : 14001 - This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

I've installed the 32 bits version of max and everything run just fine...

Of course I've tried to reinstall the driver, but it doesn't change anything.

Please help...

Hello shelghost,

Did you download and install the Current driver version 6.6.1?
Did someone manually install the driver prior?
If so it may be attempting to load the wrong plugin version.

Heres the path for the manual installation:

Copy the "3dxstd.dlu" file from "C:\Program Files\3Dconnexion\3Dconnexion Plug-in for 3ds max"
to the "stdplugs" sub-directory of 3dx max.
Copy "3DxStudio.chm" to the help sub-directory
If you are using 3ds max 5 and higher copy 3DxStudio.ms to the scripts\startup sub-directory.
That's all.

* Loading the plug-in

- First use of the plug-in:
i) In order to use the SpaceMouse/SpaceBall, you must make sure that the driver is running;
ii) Start 3ds max, the plug-in should now be loaded and a banner is displayed.

- Automatic load of the plug-in:
No action is required if 3DxStudio.ms is located in the scripts\startup directory

Hello Fred,

I am using the 6.6.4 driver and nobody ever installed anything manually.

I've tried copying the files exactly as you said, but no result.
I still got the same error message.

I am using 3DS MAX 2008

:/

Hi shelghost,

Do you see any errors in event viewer? If yes, please post them here.
Please also compare your issue with this topic - installing the mentioned runtime was the solution there.
