Autocad constrain axis

Post by shmbry »

Whilst using Autocad 2008 I have tried to constrain my navigator to the Y axis by using the left button, after selecting the option in the control panel.

However I'm only able to zoom in or out ( up and down on the puck )
I can't get any other movement.

Any ideas please ?

Thanks in advance

Constraining Navigator to the Y-Axis

Post by Bryan »

Dear chambray,

What version of 3DxSoftware are you using? (3Dconnexion Control Panel, Help Menu, About Item)

What option did you assign to your SpaceNavigator's left button?

Exactly what do you mean by constraining your Navigator to the Y Axis?
Do you mean that you want no translations along the X and Z Axis?
Do you mean that you only want rotations around the Y Axis?

In the 'Advanced Settings' Tab in the 3Dconnexion Control Panel, what motions do you find you have checked?

Sincerely,
Bryan

Bryan

Release 3.6.6
Driver 6.6.1
Firmware 3.18

I am trying rotate only around the Y axis.

Button is set to RYonly.

clicking the button switches between roll only and all motions.

Constraining Navigator to the Y-Axis

Dear shmbry,

'RY only' toggles between previous settings and just 'SPIN" being checked.

If other settings have been accidentally turned off, when you toggle back from 'RY only', they will be restored. This can most conclusively be checked by having the '3Dconnexion Control Panel' open. The 'Advanced Settings' Tab will give you a visual display of which of each of the six motions is checked on. As you toggle 'RY only" off and on, you can actually watch the settings change as you do so.

But I suspect that you may be testing this in a 2D view, where you will only have zoom. I recommend that you try some of the 3D views, ('View' menu, 'Visual Styles')

Sincerely,
Bryan
