Hi kevnich00,
Thanks ngomes...Fred, was that really that hard?
Fred was trying to help you and he's right: 3Dconnexion removes old drivers from the download page once an newer version is made available. This is standard procedure.

An exception was made in this case but do note the code will be again removed once the reported performance issue in 3ds Max 2009 is addressed.

From Fred:
"Logitech policy has us remove old drivers form our pc's when new ones are released. Only one who can put a old driver back on the website is one of the developers.
Ive already reported the issue and all i can do is wait for them to respond."

Sorry, that didn't seem helpful; just "wait" isn't a good solution when I am trying to get work done NOW. It seemed more like a, "sorry we broke your device, but there's really nothing we can do" answer.
My 2009 is working again.

To kevnich00:
It was Fred's monitoring of this thread and subsequent (internal) reporting that initiated the action to open an exception and provide access to the old release.

Hey guys,

My specs:

Vista64
Max2010 64
Space Navigator
Installed 3DxSoftwarePE_v3-7-12

I"m noticing that when I use my 3D Mouse to navigate in a perspective (or a created camera) viewport, I get a lot of slow down when I just happen to mouse over the geometry.

I made a quick vid to show what I mean. In the vid, I'm rotating around the geo at a consistent force, and when I mouse over the geo, it chugs instantly. Of course, the heavier the scene, the worse it gets.. meaning, even if I can rotate around a heavier scene with no slowdown, the instant I mouse over the geo, the effect is even more pronounced..

Any input?

The video:

This does not work... If I got a large object assembly in a scene, I can't rotate, everything slowing down. Why? ...disappointed user..

I'm also having trouble with the new 3.7.12 driver.
It just switches back-forth between:
3DxStudio Perspective <-> Perspective

It does so constantly whenever I use the device
so is therefore completely NOT usable.

Anybody else having/had this problem, is there
a known fix or is the new driver just not production ready?

Windows XP x64
Max2010 64
Space Pilot
Driver 3.7.12

I see the same in my system, but I am not really sure why this is a problem (and what the difference is between the two perspectives)

Thank you very much for the information. Great that you from 3DConnexion monitor these forums (excellent support)

In generel i find the new driver otherwise working very well on my system, I experience none of the latency / slowdown etc. described by other users - my SpacePilot seem to perform very well regardless of where I hover the mouse etc.

I also work mosty in perspective view, so the described issue (ID 5063) swithing between the two perspective modes is typically not a problem in my workflow.

(Btw. What are the diffrence between these two perspective modes anyway?)
Best regards,

Hide by Category: Cameras specifically

Post by findapollo »

Developers,

I noticed that the 3DxStudio Perspective doesn't completely adhere to the current 'Hide by Category' checkboxes on the Display tab. I often have cameras and lights hidden globally this way but Cameras still appear in the 3DxStudio Perspective. I thought this might have something to do with issue 5063 but hiding the cameras manually doesn't help the issue, but it does prevent them from appearing in 3DxStudio Perspective. Perhaps now would be a good time to take a look at having the 3DxStudio Perspective match the current Display tab settings. I believe I noticed this bug in earlier versions.

Thanks,
Nick

Hey guys, I figured out what was causing this (hopefully) and how to stop it :P

I closed the Rendered Frame Window and Render Setup Pane and it seems to work a lot better.

The drop-down setting box for View and Viewport to render in these was switching back/forth along with the veiwport between Perspective and 3DxStudio Perspective. I never noticed because I usually have that setting locked on a Camera and always leave those windows open on a second monitor. With those windows closed, it seems to work much better, though it still occasionally seems to switch back/forth once or twice before staying in 3DxStudio Perspective. So, I don't know if it's is all of the reason for the problem, but at least I can use my Navigator again.
