I just got an answer for this that seems to be working so far. It seems like the configuration XML file for Solidworks went funny somehow, so I deleted it. Soudns like this can happen if you do a lot of reconfiguring.

The steps I was given:
*close everything
*in Windows 10, click on the 3DConnexion folder in the Start menu, and click Stop 3DxWare
*Go to C/Users/{your name}/AppData. If you don't see AppData, click View pane and check Hidden Items box in the top right
Inside AppData folder, open Roaming/3Dconnexion/3DxWare/Cfg
*delete the SolidWorks XML
*click on the #DConnexion folder in the Start menu, and click Start 3DxWare
*Launch SolidWorks and take it for a spin!

You will lose all your mapping and macros if you do this. It wasn't that big a deal for me because I use a SpaceMouse with 2 buttons. It may be more of an ordeal for the multi-button device users. If this fix sticks though, I feel like it would be worth it to not have to re-center the view every couple minutes because it flies off into space. I figure if you write down all your button mapping, you can re-map them quickly without mucking up the configuration file. Hope this helps, since this seems to be a common problem with no definitive solutions.
