I'd really like to see support for a SpaceNavigator on OS X. My primary 3d app is SketchUp though I also use Google Earth. And, I'm willing to beta test...

We are currently looking at a Mac solution for SpaceNavigator, which will most probably be available in the first quarter of next year. Please stay tuned for more information on this board. We will also look for beta testers.

And, if you can give us feedback on the applications you are running, that information is always welcome.

I'd like to be a beta tester!

Mac:
Power Mac G5 (Dual 2.7 GHz), 2.5 GB Mem, Mac OS X 10.4.8

Apps:
- Photoshop CS
- CINEMA 4D R9
- BodyPaint 3D R3
- Google Earth

I've already purchased a SpaceNavigator SE to use it on Windows.
If you could send me a driver for Mac, I can test it immediately.

Thank you all for your great feedback!

We will make the Mac OS X beta driver available very shortly after the first of the year. I will post on this board to let you know from where you may download it.

As previously mentioned, this driver will work with the 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator product.

Look forward to bringing you this announcement and for your feedback.

Space Explorer

Post by MaryMac »

I always appreciate :) a different way to navigate and work more efficiently. Also, I have issues with a condition in my hands  that is helped a lot by using different types of input devices...track pads, mice, trackballs, pens, etc. Using the Space Explorer would be a fantastic thing for people like me. However, I too use a Mac 99% of the time. My main software is Photoshop and along with that, Cinema 4d and Second Life. SL is a 3d virtual world which I think might benefit a lot from just such a device as the Space Explorer. The Space Explorer is a bit more than I would usually spend for some such thing but it is SO attractive an idea I would love to try it if I could be assured that it would work with my clunker, a power PC.

SpacePilot

Post by tmay »

I'm running a SpacePilot, mostly for Pro/E, GibbsCAM, SolidWorks, and Concepts Unlimited on a PC. I would like to connect one to a MacPro at some point in the future.

Otherwise, I guess I will have to consider a Space Navigator.

Bought it a few days ago (dang, delivery from Germany is expensive!)... should arrive soon ! I just can't wait, and if a beta driver arrives at the same time, it would be simply great !

Ok, a 3D SpaceNav won't make 2007 brighter, but it does make it a bit more fun :)

This is a very powerful tool, and i'd love to use it in apple apps (aperture, photoshop, iMovie). Support for SketchUp is great and much appreciated.

With OS navigation starting to go semi-3D, quick options for jumping around or smart scrolling would be a welcome addition.

I second that... Can't wait to see SpaceNavigator controlling the camera position in CoreAnimation ....
Electronics is fun.
If you want me to take it seriously,

Would be perfect to have support in OSX for SpacePilot!

Post by SpaceNaut »

I just saw that there were more than 2.500 people checking on this topic.
That really demonstrates the kind of interest which would be for the OSX environment and subsequent drivers in use of the 3Dconnexion products.
I, for myself would appreciate heavily the possibility to use my SpacePilot and SpaceTraveller on the MAC platform. I use several professional programs like FinalCut, Motion, etc. on the Mac platform (besides Pro-E and CATIA on the Windows side of the iMac).

 Hey 3Dconnexion, you could - should offer the newly developed drivers as a surprise at the MacWorld expo in SF on Jan. 9th 2007. Would be charming - and most possibly a splendid introduction in the MAC market!

All best
So much to explore ...
