3D Mouse useless for 2D AutoCAD 2011 - Help.

I have used a Space Navigator mouse to good effect in AutoCAD 2010. Since upgrading to AutoCAD 2011 it does not work, wanting to regenerate every step of the way whilst panning or zooming making it unusable.

According to Autodesk this is a known issue because the visual style is automatically switched to a 3D style when the mouse is plugged in. They do not have any work around, leaving me with a £100 mouse gathering dust in the corner of my desk.

Does anybody here know of any possible work arounds?
