cinema 4d 2023.2.0 is broken - No responce to puck

Post by cjadams »

Seems according to the release notes for 2023.2.0 maxon has removed"native" spacemouse functionality!!!!

"Native support for SpaceMouse devices has been removed to allow 3dconnexion to directly support the use of their devices within Cinema 4D."

My question is........Does 3dc even know this????????????

And if so.. please note that the latest version of the drivers from the other day "3DxWare64_v10-8-12_r3545"
DO not work with this version of cinema 4D

Hopefully an update is soon??

Hello,

According to this post 3D connection requested this so it could support M1 & M2 macs

So I assume they are aware that this was going to happen.

I was in a webinar with the maxon’s people today and they are aware of this now, and not sure why it’s being held up at the moment. Supposedly this should’ve been released as well, so anybody wanna chime in?

The problem with MAXON's Cinema 4D support of 3Dconnexion hardware is that people at MAXON won't get direct sales income with the time-consuming third-party 3DxWare SDK API integration and testing of compatibility. People hired by MAXON company are being paid to generate revenue and profit for the company, investing significant amount of software code development and testing hours to the low-volume third-party 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse hardware can't bring significant synergistic effect to the sales income of MAXON Cinema 4D software licence. It's common business practice, employees are driven by profit, when profit is huge, the incentive to improve is big.

Now threaten to abandon or discontinue footing the bill for future Cinema 4D subscription fee, the ultimate power of consumer.

We do, yes. We have been collaborating with Maxon to develop a new plug-in for Cinema 4D.

The plug-in was included in v. 10.8.12 of 3DxWare 10, released a month ago. Please refer to this topic.

Thanks for including the C4D plugin in the latest 10.8.12.

You may have to reinstall the drivers but everything works now!

No, it does not work as it should. I have deinstalled 3dxware completely, reinstalled the latest driver after installation of C4D 2023.2 (checkbox for C4d is marked). There is no plugin installed, spaceMouse compact is working, but you can only navigate within the scene. There is no possibility to move the objects any more. The 3D Mouse Dialog in C4d does not change between these 2 Modes.

Yes, if you still want 3Dconnexion 6-DoF in newest version of MAXON Cinema 4D.

The Cinema 4D licence fee/subscrption fee(USD 719.00 per year ) is huge if you compare the price to 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse over the lifespan of the hardware.
