Spaceball 500 and SW2008, xp 32

Post by behoerner »

I have a user that has lost the use of his buttons on the spaceball, the knob works as expected but even when he re assigns button tools there is no reaction. We uninstalled and re-installed the software, things were working fine but just stopped according to him...

Thoughts??

Spaceball 500 and SW2008, xp 32

Dear behoerner,

Was that SpaceBall 5000 USB or a SpaceBall 5000 Serial?
What release version of 3DxSoftware are you using?
(3Dconnexion Control Panel, Help Menu, About Itme)
Are the commands you are trying to execute from your button mappings also showing in a toolbar?

What changed when the buttons stopped working?
New Installation?
New Upgrade? (Application, Operating System, Drivers?)
Different Mode? Different Configuration?

Sincerely,
Bryan

(3Dconnexion Control Panel, Help Menu, About Itme) release version 3.6.8, driver version 6.6.1, firmware version 2.23
Are the commands you are trying to execute from your button mappings also showing in a toolbar? yes: The mapping is not the same in the tool bar and the control panel. In the past, I was able to see and map commands that were under “key board” in the tool bar now they do not show up at all. Furthermore, when settings are made in either place, they change back to a default setting when I use Solid Works. Line and circle commands will not work no matter where assigned or which button is assigned. Assigning these as custom functions does not work for circle or line even though they are creatable under custom functions. Oddly though, the trim command always works.

What changed when the buttons stopped working? see above
New Installation? no
New Upgrade? (Application, Operating System, Drivers?) Nothing has changed with the SolidWorks install or spaceball, although we did reinstall the spaceball software to see if that would help
Different Mode? Different Configuration? All operations on this users pc have been the same, the only update I found was a windows update BUT that happened after this started.

Sincerely,
Bryan

Bryan,

I did notice a windows hot fix that occurred during that time, it was KB915800-v4, not sure if that is of any help at all.

Another thing I don't understand is the discrepancy between the driver update I got from 3D Connection (3.6.11) and the driver version my driver details lists (5.1.2600.5512). I've done a complete uninstall / reinstall including removing the registry files.
