SpacePilot suggestion

I was thinking that it would be nice if the SpacePilot had a "bump" of some sort on the CTRL button similar to the F & J keys on most keyboards.

This would make it easier to figure out which button your finger is on without having to slide around and count keys. I find myself going back to the keyboard more often than not simply because its faster than trying to figure out which key I'm pressing on the SP.

I would also suggest making some modifications to the numbered buttons, as the middle buttons can be difficult to figure out which one your touching without actually looking at them.
