Tilt/Spin/Roll function in Catia V5 Sketch mode

Post by lkiss10 »

Hi,

I use SpaceNavigator with Catia V5.

When I go to Sketch mode, this rotate function turn off. So I can only pan and zoom. I can turn on this function manually in the 3Dconnecion controll panel, but it is not too confortable to do it always. Is it possible to deactivate this automatic function in the driver?

Thanks

Laszlo

Hi lkiss10,
When I go to Sketch mode, this rotate function turn off.
This behaviour is by design: in CATIA V5, rotations are switched when entering Sketch mode. This is a feature of the application.

If you would like to have it extended, we suggest you send a note directly to Dassault Systemes, the editor of CATIA.

I think this is just a view positioning function in Catia. I can rotate with the mouse button in the sketch mode also. So I dont see any rotate function different in Catia.

I meant to say that the behaviour (switch off rotations for the 3D mouse) is required. It is not a bug or other problem.

When using a normal mouse, CATIA users cannot rotate, pan or zoom simultaneously. Users have to switch normal mouse modes.

If rotations where not disabled for the 3D mouse when entering Sketch then, as soon as the user touched the 3D mouse sensor, it would rotate the view. This is not desirable when working on what is basically a 2D environment.

Professional 3D mice have a button that toggle rotations on or off.

Ok. Finally I have mapped the SpaceNavigator rotation on/off function to one button, so it is easy to turn back the function.
Thanks for your answer.
