Photoshop CS4 2D performance issue with SpaceNavigator

Post by Futurama »

I am having a dissapointing performance when the SpaceNavigator is used with Adobe Photoshop CS4. The primary use is to move 2D images around (when zoomed in) as part of editing photograhic images. The movement in photosphop is not as smooth as it should be. I have made a few observations and listed them below, and added some system information.

3DxViewer (the bundled image viewer) works fine when viewing images, this has a very smooth movement.
Photoshop CS4 when used without SpaceNavigator has smooth movement of images; the 'hand' being used to drag the image around.
Photoshop CS4 with SpaceNavigator - movement of image NOT smooth, it is a little 'blocky' or choppy (as though the image cannot be redrawn quick enough). The result is usuable but dissapointing.

I have the very latest video card driver and 3Dconnextion driver.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi,

unfortunately I can confirm the problem of VERY bucking movements in Photoshop CS4 with Space Navigator driver 3.6.11

I hope this will be fixed soon. Or is this just a config problem??

Any hints?

TIA,

a x.12 update to work flawlessly in ps cs4 is long in coming, i hope it happens before the year ends, i lose the toolbar view in cs4 with the 3dc plug working so ive had to toally remove it, as it was just too much of a hassle.

I've had this same discussion going on the Mac OSX forum. Obviously it cross platform. Initially it didn't work at all with PS CS4 but a new driver came out that made it work, as you say, in a choppy fashion. Almost anything is better than Adobe's gizmo, but it would be nice if it worked.
