Check Update not working

I have 3DxWareMac 10.4.3 installed. I've been using the "Check Update" button in System Preferences. 3DxMacWareUpdater.app makes a connection to the server, then reports "The installed 3DxMacWare software is up to date." But it's not up to date. I see that 10.4.4 has been out for several months now. I downloaded and installed it manually.
