3DConnexion Wireless Spacemouse doesn't now work....

I sold my 3Dconnexion Wireless Spacemouse on eBay because I had hardly used it over the years - I tested it on my PC using Blender, worked perfectly fine, but unfortunately because I hadn't used it in a long time, it didn't occur to me to check that the battery was charging nor that it had the latest firmware installed.

So off it went and sure enough the buyer told me that the device was not charging, and stuck at 1% (which I subsequently learned is most likely a firmware issues needing upgrading).

So, I told the buyer of this, but informed him to not upgrade the firmware, best I do it, and return it back for a full refund.

He did return it (with a few scratches it never had) but unfortunately he forgot to include the wireless adapter.

I've plugged the mouse in via the usb cable, and it doesn't work at all.

I cannot remember, but I'm pretty sure the mouse should work via the USB cable, whether the adapter is plugged in or not???

Please can someone confirm?

Also, please can someone confirm, the left button and the right button should both have the same 'feel'? (mine, now has a nice click on the right button, but the left button has no click at all......).

It should work via USB cable or via the Universal Receiver.
