Space mouse stops working on Revit

Post by mhenriquezar »

I've been struggling to fix an issue with my 3DConnexion mouse while working in Revit. Randomly, it stops functioning properly—it disables zoom, pan, and rotation, but the buttons still work. It’s incredibly frustrating because I often have to close and reopen the project to restore functionality. When working with large files that take over 15 minutes to open, this is a huge disruption.

Here’s what I’ve already tried to resolve the issue:

Updated the driver: I’ve gone through the process of deleting the old driver, rebooting, and installing the latest version.
Checked the Device Manager: I ensured that the USB port isn’t being limited by power settings.
Looked for conflicting add-ins: I don’t have any add-ins that could cause conflicts.
Updated Revit: I’ve tested multiple versions of Revit, and the issue persists across all of them.
Restarted the 3DConnexion service: Stopping and restarting the service doesn’t seem to help.
Tested other programs: The issue only occurs in Revit—other software works fine.
Tweaked the settings: I’ve tried changing settings, but it seems like the changes aren’t being saved or applied.
I’m at a loss for what to try next. Has anyone else experienced this behavior? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I am using: Revit 2023 & 2025 latest versions.
3DxWare 10.9.3.671

Autodesk has acknowledged this issue, noting that SpaceMouse functionality in Revit can stop working correctly when the device is disconnected. This behavior may also occur after locking the computer or switching between Revit and other software. To re-establish the connection, a restart of Revit is necessary.

The SpaceMouse may stop working correctly if it gets disconnected. This can happen after locking your computer or switching between Revit and other applications. If the SpaceMouse stops responding, restarting Revit is necessary to re-establish the connection.

Hi guys,
I have the same issue. I use my 3d mouse for Inventor and Plant 3d, without problems, but in all Revit versions (2022,2023,2024,2025), the 3d mouse just stops work, The quick access buttons still work, but no the rotation and zoom options. I have to restart Revit to have the rotation and zoom options available again on the 3d mouse.

Well, I've been corresponding with Autodesk about the issue. They fixed this in 2025.4 and 2026. It seems they will not address the problem in older versions UNLESS they hear many ppl complaining about it. So - there's no other way but to write to them screaming about resolving the thing.
