Surface pro 11 drivers install failure

Post by vipertdev »

Hi, I get an error message when trying to install the spacemouse drivers requiring windows 10 or newer, I have googled and found information but nothing relevant yet. Surface pro 11 being an Arm based machine. Is there a work around or are drivers being developed for Windows Arm based machines?

Hey there!

It sounds like you're running into compatibility issues with the SpaceMouse drivers on your ARM-based Surface Pro 11. Unfortunately, many drivers, especially for specialized hardware like the SpaceMouse, are still primarily developed for x86/x64 architecture, and ARM support can be hit or miss.

Here are a few things you could try:

Check for ARM-Specific Drivers: Visit the official 3Dconnexion website or contact their support team to see if they have any plans or beta drivers for ARM-based Windows devices.

Compatibility Mode: Try installing the drivers in compatibility mode for Windows 10 (right-click the installer > Properties > Compatibility). It’s a long shot, but worth a try.

Emulation: Windows on ARM has x64 emulation, but it doesn’t always work perfectly for drivers. You could test if the drivers install and run under emulation, but performance might not be ideal.

Virtual Machine: As a last resort, you could run a Windows 10/11 x64 virtual machine on your Surface Pro and pass through the SpaceMouse to the VM.

If none of these work, it might be worth reaching out to 3Dconnexion directly to ask if ARM-compatible drivers are in development. ARM-based devices are becoming more common, so hopefully, they’ll release support soon!

Good luck, and let us know if you find a solution!
