Placing components in Solidworks assembly mode

Is there a way to rotate and place components in an assembly with a Space Pilot? While it's handy to be able to move an entire assembly, it's a little frustrating not being able to pre position un mated components when setting up an assembly.

Am I missing something?

Looks like the change occurred between 3.5.5 and 3.5.6

Is there a place I can find 3.5.5?

I just tried this regedit on a new system using the 3.5.6 driver. The reg value is in the Options folder instead of the higher level as orginally indicated.

Unfortunately I can't bring the Z axis move back by changing the SubPartMoveAlongZ to "1".

Has the driver changed recently?

4000FLX variable gain on motion: does it exist for 5000USB?

I recall the serial 4000FLX drivers offered a variable gain feature which provided variable gain starting with low gain at low ball deflections gradually increasing to higher gain at higher ball deflections. The end result was the ability to make accurate small moves without being stuck to crawling ...

I just installed this new driver and changed the reg value.

Thanks for putting this change in. I'm much happier being able to move with 3 simultaneous DOF.

Well I'd be happy with that. Is the reg value currently adjustable or will it only be available in the next driver revision?

Any news on this enhancement? I finally upgraded to a SpaceBall 5000 I picked up on Ebay and was dismayed to lose simultaneous zoom and rotate. I realize that the new driver interface is easier for new users to comprehend and separating translate and rotate eases the learning curve, but I think a lo...
