4000FLX variable gain on motion: does it exist for 5000USB?

Post by Carltonium »

I recall the serial 4000FLX drivers offered a variable gain feature which provided variable gain starting with low gain at low ball deflections gradually increasing to higher gain at higher ball deflections. The end result was the ability to make accurate small moves without being stuck to crawling slow major displacements.

Are the exponential gain variables still accessible in the registry? I'm hoping I can still bring this feature back tweaking regedit even though it's been removed from the control panel interface.

The 5000USB is also nonlinear like the 4000FLX. If you want to adjust the nonlinearity, you can change the Nonlinear Factor entry in the registry at: HKCU/Software/3Dconnexion/3DxWare. 1.7 is the default. Larger numbers will make it more nonlinear.
