Our devices are designed to work only when plugged directly into one of the computer's usb ports.
It should not be plugged into an intermediate device like a usb hub, adapter or the monitor. This includes an extension device.

You will need to map the buttons in whatever application you use:MAX 8, or MAX 2008. Save the configuration. It should retain the settings.

Try using the SpaceBall 5000 without any other usb devices connected while the SpaceBall 5000 is connected directly to the computer.
