hey thanks for the input! i checked the control panel in max but nothing needed any changes! after exiting max in frustration i maximised the 3DxWare from the taskbar icon! i left this open so the dialog screen was displayed and opened max again! Somehow it worked this time =D not sure why it doesn'...

sounds to me like your having the same issue that i have with 3ds max! works fine in something else but doesn't work in another! i noticed the same thing with the application not being in the dropdown list like the working program!

...strange!

oh and i have updated the software to the latest version and vista is fully updated too!

The installation works fine and the device works well in Photoshop but when i open 3dsMax 9 or 2008 the drivers seem to load and the appropriate dialog boxes appear in the relevant (hammer) tab in both versions!
