myon-going attempt to fix my mouse installation

Uta - (...just getting back to my attempt to get my mouse working again) Your first instruction for me is to remove all evidence of the current installation (before tryng a fresh installation from scratch). The first step is to use Add/Remove Programs to delete the mouse driver, but when I try, rega...

Uta - I don't know how to " just enter on a command prompt from the location where the 3DxSoftware package is located the corresponding command " I created a new folder on my desktop, called it "temp", then downloaded and dragged "3DxSoftware_v3-7-18.exe " into it, then...

Just saw your latest reply (re purge drivers, etc.) Already did that a while ago - only thing I haven't been able to remove is the entry in the Add/Remove Programs control panel itself.

Uta - Log file instructions apparently did nothing. First, the reg key I found is not "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Mi..." but rather "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" so that's where I dug in. Starting from there I drilled down per instructions and eventually entered "RunDll32 C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INS...

Uta - Tnx for the prompt reply - I appreciate it. I looked at the permissions for C:\Programs and found my own name with full permissions, but no one else listed. Digging deeper in the dialog I found a second entry called "Administrators" but it had no permissions asociated with it (unchec...

can't update SpaceNavigator software

Getting error 1317 when I try to update software for Space Navigator on XP o/s. Tried all of the uninstall remedies I could find on your site. Never was able to remove the driver via Add & Remove Programs ('Remove' always tried to update the driver - unsuccessfully); stopped my firewalll and ant...

sames problem, new computer

Now I have a brand new, fresh out of the box Lenovo XP Pro computer, a brand new copy of SU Free (downloaded today), and a brand new install of the 3Dx mouse (from original disk, then updated online today). The mouse STILL doesn't work with SU, although it does work with its own picture viewer. I ha...

3D mouse works fine, except with SketchUp Pro v7 - help!

Using XP Pro computer, running current versions of 3DX driver and SketchUp Pro. Mouse works fine when viewing, say, jpg's opened on the desktop, and it appears everywhere you'd expect it to in SU (e.g. its own toolbar is there, it's listed under Options, etc.) But it will not work in SU in any sense...

Thanks, Jim. ...so, I set myself up in Top View (or whatever) and parallel projection in the GUI and I'm so to speak in "blueprint" mode on some plane, ready to work up a 2D profile for Push/Pull. I use my 3D mouse to pan, rotate and zoom as I develop the line work, but -- oops! -- not an ...

thanks for the help

Well, I'm off to buy a mouse based on your combined endorsement of the MX Revolution. Thanks again for your suggestions guys. Also buying a pair of 22" LCDs to replace my current dual-crt set up, so the new nouse will get a serious workout. I might mention that I am also migrating up from old L...

I need Button Config drop-down list explanations

There is a huge list of possibilities for button configurations on the Button Config tab in the Control Panel, but no explanation for what any of them actually do. Is there a URL or a pdf or something that lays out what the less obvious of these button options do? For example, I'd love to see a butt...

J - I agree re Logitech, but which mouse, sensei? The number of mice and keyboards around these days boggles the mind, and the feature sets are impossible to intelligently compare unless you devote a Saturday morning to the research. I'd much rather follow the advice of CAD folks down in the trenche...

What's the best 'normal' mouse to use with my 3D mouse?

Using my 3D mouse on an XP system, mostly with SketchUp Pro. It's time for me to get a new 2D mouse for general use and that brought up the question: Is there a 2D mouse out there that plays particularly nicely with my 3D mouse? I'm thinking unique driver features or special mouse switches or whatev...
