Spaceball 5000 USB not recognized on startup
I recently installed a usb spaceball 5000 onto my computer running windows xp 64bit sp2 using the latest drivers from the website. I have the 'start driver' executable in my startup folder, however the driver will not start and the spaceball isn't recognized by my computer unless I unplug the spaceball, plug it back in (the spaceball gives a single beep when plugged back in), and then start the drivers. After this it works great. Is there something I can do avoid this ritual every time I start my computer?
No, I cannot find the spaceball listed under any catagory in the device manager. After the intial startup of my computer this morning, I went through the usual unplug/plug back in routine - nothing in the device manager. I restarted my computer and the drivers and everything started fine (i.e. - the control panel icon appears in the notification area of the task bar) without having to unplug the spaceball - nothing different in the device manager. I then unplugged the spaceball with the drivers running and when I plugged it back in windows did the normal "new usb device detected" (which it hasn't done before). It then prompted me to restart, so I did. Again the divers started fine but I did not notice any change in the device manager.
So currently everything is working? The next time your device does not work, please try to locate it in device manager as described in the knowledge-base.
If it is also not shown in device manager - please contact support - perhaps your device needs to be replaced - and they are the only ones who can initiate this replacement.
If your SpaceBall shows up in device manager but the driver refuses to start we should try to find out what is happening. As a first step it would be important to know if 3dxsrv.exe is running in taskmanager.

spaceball 5000 usb does not start with catia
Hello I have exactly the same proble, but the device is showed and also the service is running in the task manager, when I start catia it does not works
Hi, I checked that and the applications are allowed. It is strange as I bought 3 spaceball 5000 usb, I used them on UNIX and windows but only one fails to start on AIX machines and pc´s, on the pc I plug it and unplug it and works, not in unix. The only difference I can tell is that they have different firmware, the one with the problem is 3.11

Hi,
does the device work after unplugging and re-plugging when you log out and in again on AIX?
Alternatively you should disable the start from the /etc/inittab and start the driver manually from the command line.
