3DxWare 10.7.0 for macOS problems

Post by Frank_Online »

After installing this official release my space mouse stopt working with my 3D modeling software Onshape.
Are more people heaving trouble with this official release and what can I do to fix this?

I've only had my Spacemouse for a month or so but so far it has been one huge (and expensive) disappointment.

I never managed to get it to work at all with OpenSCAD. It used to work with Fusion 360 but now for some reason it stopped. It just works as a normal mouse with left and right twists acting like the scroll wheel on my regular mouse.

Will reinstall drivers but this is not what I was hoping for.

This behaviour (working as a regular mouse) is indicative of the driver not running.

Using Activity Monitor, check if the "3DconnexionHelper" agent is running. If it is not, try rebooting the system and check again.

I have the same problem!
In Onshape in safari it behaves like a mouse.
3Dx Demos all work.
I need this! Thanks!

Is "3DconnexionHelper" running? See the preceding post just above yours.

It's not running on my machine, and I've restarted multiple times since the driver was installed.

Something is blocking the agent from starting. We will need to debug that.

Before, though, open a Finder window, go to Applications > 3Dconnexion and double-click on the "3DconnexionHelper" file to start the program. Confirm the program is listed in Activity Monitor. Afterwards, reload Onshape and see if operation has restarted.

I followed those steps, and it's running now but it's not showing up in the (Sys Prefs / Users & Groups) list of items that will automatically start at login. It used to appear here. Is that not the case anymore?

Thanks for your reply but working like crazy for a deadline. Will check the above next week but the most stable driver I have installed and reinstalled again is version "3DxWareMac_v10-7-0_r3356". This has been the only version so far for me that has been stable everyday while using Onshape.
Hope this helps...

The "helper" used to be launched as a "login item", yes, but in 10.7.0 (beta 20, r3386) we switched to a user agent.

You should find a file in /Library/LaunchAgents to launch the "helper" program and we need to find out why that is not working for you.

To be sure I manually delete the files "3DconnextionHelper" and "3DxNLServer" then installed the latest released driver and rebooted. After de reboot allowed everything with Admin level login. Then did the the test and the Spacemouse wasn't working. Checked the activity monitor and "3DconnextionHelper" was running normally. After sorting all activities on name to get a overview of all 3Dconnection processes. I found out that the "3DxNLServer" wasn't running! Activated this process manually and rebooted the browser and everything came to life! Then I added this program to the list of programs to start after login. After this step it works like you would aspect so far.

The conclusion is that the installer doesn't add the "3dxNLServer" to the programs to launch at login.

Hope this is of help to you guys to fix this in the next release.

3DxNLServer is launched by 3DconnexionHelper, not the system.

If you notice that "3DconnexionHelper" (or "3DxNLServer") is not listed in Activity Monitor, then check the Console app for "Crash Reports".

If you'd like us to review the crash reports (we're certainly interested), you can right-click on a crash report and select "Reveal in Finder". Collect all the reports you wish to share in a single zip file. Then send the zip file to one of us in a private message or use a Dropbox/OneDrive/GDrive/etc link to share the file. Please remember to post here that you have sent a private message and to whom it was addressed.

IMPORTANT: do not post links to crash reports in public web sites. Crash reports may contain sensitive information. In the case of 3Dconnexion software this does not really apply but do take care.

The file is in there. I was just expecting to see it in the login items. The helper is running. I still don't know why my wired Cadmouse is bricked.
