Space Navigator in Second LIfe

Post by Art5 »

Hello,

I've installed my space navigator and it works great in Fly Cam mode in Second life. However , it does not control my avatar. How can I set it up to do so?

Hi Art5,

Which version of SL have you installed? Full support for 3D mice is available in the latest release candidates.

You need to install the latest release candidate for version 1.20.

Begin with the new Second Life release candidate:
(Second Life 1.20.11 (90229) Jun 19 2008)

Install your SN software and mouse...

Launch the new Second Life Release Candidate mentioned above.

My Flycam settings are listed below. I find it to be exceptionally responsive
with these settings.

And your on your way :)

Thanks for the info.
However, My Flycam is already working great.
It's controlling the Avitar that is the problem for me.

I haven't had a chance to install the latest Release Candidate yet.

Hopefully that will be the fix.

I agree, this thing works great in Flycam mode.

Hi Art,

Yes the screens your seeing in my post above are of the new
release candidate and the mouse controls my AV movements
beautifully.

Its very responsive. I adjusted my settings so that my
avatar responded quickly to movements. It's really quite simple
to adjust the settings in the Joystick options window.

The new Release candidate is worth the download. I find it
to be reasonably stable at the moment.

Cheers and have fun :)

Is anyone having a problem with the Spacenav drifting on its own and causing the camera to tilt .. Even after resetting the view the camera tends to tilt downward unless i disable the Spacenav...

Not having that problem. Check the deadzone parameters on Edit>Preferences>Input & Camera>Joystick Configuration. They let you compensate for a noisy joystick.
