I absolutely love my 3DConnexion products and can hardly work without them now. However, custom button assignment has always been a love/hate relationship. It is wonderful that we can assign buttons by application and have HUGE customizability in doing so. But sometimes you want a button to do the same thing everywhere and that's where life gets frustrating.
I'd like to request a way to tell these assignments whether they are specific to the interface (as it handled now), application wide, or global to windows. I drew check boxes in my photo as an example but it could be within the assignment submenu or wherever.
On my SpaceMouse, my left hand stays there most of the time. The shift/alt/esc/ctrl keys are glorious. What's missing is "Enter" and "Delete". No matter what software I'm using, buttons 1 and 2 are assigned enter and delete. Currently, that means manually assigning it for every single program.
Not a big deal for most programs, but others like Fusion 360 get a different button group for EVERY SINGLE ENVIRONMENT. So I have to reassign for sketch, solid, surface, CAM, etc, etc. (For Fusion, this "feature" of having a different group for every single thing is actually far more annoying than helpful. It's good for the keyboards, but super annoying for the SpaceMouse.)
Another example is on the Numpad Pro, having buttons 2 and 3 assigned to "undo" and "redo" is awesome. Thankfully, this seems to be the default setting. But if it were not default or I wanted something else, I'd again be assigning it again for every single program and interface.
***As a side note, my last feature request for an on screen display for things other than the keyboard was partially implemented. That may or may not have had anything to do with my requesting it, but is very much appreciated regardless!***
Feature request - "APPLY TO ALL APPS"

Re: Feature request - "APPLY TO ALL APPS"
I like your approach.
The current GUI can't help you, but you can do this on your own if you don't mind editing your global.xml file.
Here's a thread to get you started
The GUI (&LCD if you had one) won't show these assignments but the buttons will do what you assign in global.xml. Attempting to change the assignments on these overridden buttons in the GUI will have no impact. You can assign just one or two buttons and let all the others flow through to the assignments that change with the application. E.g., I usually have two buttons globally assigned to + & - scaling.

Re: Feature request - "APPLY TO ALL APPS"
Thanks for that. I knew about editing xml as a kind of bypass for the GUI but did not realize there was a global override. It's not especially convenient or intuitive, but I'll try it as a work around.
In my specific case, there is a catch for Fusion 360. I can assign "enter" as a global override but not "delete". In Fusion there is "delete" and "remove" that do very different things and most of the time "delete" is not the one you want to use. This is largely why I put a check box for app wide vs global in my drawing.

You can capture one key globally (e.g. Enter/Delete) and let the others fall down to the F360 function (Remove, etc).
I agree that it certainly is not friendly to do this in notepad.
