Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me as I've had a good look around on the web and can't find any info on my problem. I'm trying to get use my 3DConnexion mouse in onshape CAD software on Linux.
I use Ubuntu Linux and have a 3DConnexion Space Navigator mouse. I have just installed the official 3DXWare 10 (v1.8.0) Linux driver from the 3DConnexion website. The driver works perfectly and I can run the xcube and xvalues demos.
I'm now trying to use the 3D mouse in onshape but I'm getting no response. I've tried using the Firefox browser and the Chromium browser and neither work. I'm wondering if there is some sort of browser plugin I need to install or should it just work on the bare browser?
If anyone can spare so me time to help please it would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Were you ever able to find a solution? I also have been unable to get the space mouse to work with onshape in any browser on linux. its a real bummer because i specifically bought product because it was advertised as being compatible with linux. currently its just an expensive paperweight

Hi there, hope you are doing well, I want to know how can I get the 3DConnexion Space Navigator mouse to work with Onshape in Ubuntu Linux when it's not responding in Firefox or Chromium. The second question is Do I need to install any additional plugins or configure settings for my 3DConnexion Space Navigator to work with Onshape in a Linux browser?switchtizzer wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 2:06 am Hi,

sorry can't help as we're all in the same boat.
If the dev's happened to notice late last year the exodus from Microsoft, maybe we can hold our breaths and think there is something coming soon?!?
If not, Please consider getting someone on a current modern Linux driver for these 3dconnexion devices.
It works in Blender in Linux Mint, why not something so simply as a webbrowser?

Re: Using 3DConnexion Mouse in Firefox on Linux
There is an open source Linux driver for the SpaceMouse: https://wiki.freecad.org/3Dconnexion_input_devices/en
The latest versions of several LinuxOS don't launch this open source driver, nor the panel that comes with it.
The Wiki article for the open source driver refers to the following supported Linux operating systems:
- Ubuntu 18.04 → 22.04 (X11 session)
- Debian 10 → 12 (X11)
- Fedora ≤ 37–38 (X11)
- openSUSE Leap / Tumbleweed (X11)
