Hi all -
Just got a (used) Spacemouse Pro. (Toured an engineers workspace, saw an employee using it and went "OH I WANT THAT!")
I am a rookie. I play around in Sketchup Go (used it for personal projects over the years). But unfortunately Go (even with the paid subscription!) doesn't seem to work with the Pro. I realize there is a Chrome plug-in (extension) that supposedly works, but I've tried it on 3 separate Mac's and...no luck (I am able to rotate the 'test pyramid', but thats all). (FWIW we run MacBook Pro or MacBook Air, both on Sonoma OS). USB-C inputs (we do have to use a USB-old-school to USB-C adapter with the mouse, hopefully thats not a problem).
The other user here is my son, who is an above-average 8 year old (but still an 8 year old) who is pretty fluent in TinkerCad, and has played around in Sketchup with some guided success.
What I'd like to find is the "simplest" 3d modeling software that is "natively" (maybe wrong word -- "reliably/fully") compatible with the space mouse pro. I know there are a lot of modeling programs out there. We generally like to make "practical" items (i.e. a catapult, organizer, gears, etc) vs. "artistic/organic" items.
While free would be nice, I'm willing to pay a small-ish amount.
Thanks for any help!

Please consider Shapr3D on macOS. It has a pretty extensive free trial and launching the application starts a quick tutorial of the main app functions.

Awesome! I will absolutely take a look at it! We (my son and I) both thank you.

Ok, have had a chance to play around with Shapr3d and it is *perfect* for our needs. Thank you!
