Google Earth Keeps Moving

Post by RobH »

I have had a problem with the Google Earth Pro App in Windows (I'm not using nor have I tested the Web version). In the past, I could navigate in GE just like I do in a 3d program. It worked perfectly.

Something has changed the past few years and with the latest Insider release of 10.9.1, which listed a GE update, the problem persists. The problem is that when I move the controller puck (SpaceMousePro), Google Earth just keeps moving. It will eventually stop, but it goes a long way. I don't have any fine control anymore and can't just "fly around."

Is there a setting I'm overlooking and not configuring properly?

I'm posting an update in case it helps others with this issue.

I think I finally have things working properly. I tried all of the posted manual uninstall tips I could find as well as 3dConnection's "Cleanup" tips. Nothing helped. I use Revo to purge the Registry and rebooted. I used Revo again as it found more entries. After rebooting, I could not get 3dxware to install. It would error and say "Failed."

So, I went to the Registry and input the search word "3dconnexion" and deleted without any regard to if I should or not, every single thing it found. There were 100's if not 1000's of entries. It took 2.5hours to get them all.

I then rebooted and installed the latest Insider release 10.9.1 and it completed without issue. And at present anyway, Google Earth works as it did several years ago. 3ds Max functions nominally as well, but it worked anyway, always good to check as I don't make an income with GE...lol...

So, bottom line, when all else fails, from my perspective, manually and laborously removing all remanents of "3dconnexion" from the registry works.
