3D Connexion Settings Not Working

Post by prefabbim »

I noticed this problem when I got a project in Navisworks 2024 and the spacemouse moved up/down and forwards/backwards too fast.

One little touch and I was way off in outer space.

Opened my 3DConnexion Settings. Right away I noticed it didn't name Navisworks as the application. Normally if I'm in Navisworks, it would say "Navisworks" on the Settings interface. This time it just said "Explorer".

I checked and noticed my driver was outdated.

I downloaded and installed latest driver.

The problem is still there.

I checked my %APPDATA%\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\Cfg and all my xml files are still there but the Settings interface doesn't seem to refer to those when I switch apps while the Settings interface is open.

Can someone please help?

If you upgrade the 3DxWare driver from an old version, 3DxWare doesn't preserve the old settings for compatibility reason. ZIP the %APPDATA%\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\Cfg as a backup, and remove the files within. Then manually create your new 3Dconnexion settings when Navisworks application window is in focus.

Thanks for replying!

I tried that (cut/paste xml files and moved to desktop).

I then opened the settings dialogue while in Navisworks, and it still didn't display the app name (still read "explorer"). Plus the spacemouse became unresponsive.

I moved the xml files back to the original folder, hoping to retrieve mobility but the mouse remained unresponsive until I rebooted the computer.

Should I first reboot right after moving the xml files, then try recreating the settings?

Rebooting after moving the files didn't work.

Any other tips?

Remove the Navisworks.xml file in this foler:
C:\Users\you current account user name\AppData\Roaming\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\Cfg

Click 'Stop 3DxWare', 10 seconds later, click 'Start 3DxWare'.

Otherwise, upgrade to Navisworks 2025 since you're on Autodesk subscription plan. 3DxWare v10.9.1 supports Navisworks v2020 to v2025.

I noticed on the driver download page, it says to "Browse the software list below to find out if your application supports 3Dconnexion devices."

https://3dconnexion.com/uk/software/

I went to Navisworks and it says it's been tested on Navisworks version 21.1.

https://3dconnexion.com/uk/applications ... avisworks/

I thought maybe that's why it's not working (because my project is in Navisworks 2024).

Opened Navis 2021 and checked the 3DConnexion app.

It still reads "explorer" as the designated software (where it usually reads out the software that you're calibrating the spacemouse for).

Any idea what I should do? It shouldn't be this complicated. Whenever I rotate my mouse in Navis, it spins the view too fast so it can make the viewing experience on site to be really wearisome. My viewers are nauseated from all the jerking left and right and I really really need to dampen the spin rate or the guys on site are going to get really frustrated doing meetings with me.

Open the 3DxWare driver with 7-zip archive manager, you'll notice the 3DxNavisworks.msi file. extract it and open it with 7-zip, the plug-in for Navisworks v2020 to v2025 is there. Check if you have successfully enabled the 3DxWare plug-in in Navisworks.

go to:
Options/Interface/Steering Wheels.
and uncheck the box: "Use point of view linear velocity" and that's it.
