LED stays red / not working

Post by in5omni4 »

Hello,

I've got two SpaceMouse Wireless and the status leds don't work correct anymore. The battery led shows only red, even if the battery is full. I got the notification from the driver that the battery level is critical (less than 1%). The blue led ring is turned of, but there is a connection. I've replaced the battery of one mouse to check if the battery is the problem with no effect. Overall, the mice work! I'm living for a while with the errors.

The mice are out of warranty. I guess the error came with an driver update in the past. That's the reason I didn't get connected to the support. It's only an ugly cosmetic thing.

Cheers,
David

There's a signal line connecting the battery to the circuit board of your SpaceMouse Wireless, which is used to report battery level, may be it's the cause of such issue you encountered right now.

Other than the LED (and driver) always saying the battery is low, does it still work because it actually is charged? I have a device that does this.
Call tech support. There may be a firmware update for this.

I see someone mentioning the signal line connecting the battery to the circuit board of the SpaceMouse Wireless, which is used to report battery level.

As an electronics and computer technician, when I replaced the battery with a new battery, I was aware of this signal wire.

My mouse is doing this exact same thing with the battery fully charged and it's a new battery.

I actually took the old battery and put it in a different device to see how it worked and it's fine in there. It charges and that device works for a long time before discharge.

in my case, at least, this is not a signal line issue.

Since so many people are reporting this, it's clearly a bug in the old firmware.

I have opened a ticket, so let's see how good support is to get a firmware update out. I don't understand why it's not just available on the website as all other companies do. hmmmmm

Hi there,
the support sent me the firmware update utility with the new firmware file. Everything worked fine. Meanwhile, I've switched to the newer BT Edition. But I can remember that the firmware update solved the problem. Even the new battery showed correct LED feedback.

I'm asking me why 3dconnexion hold back the firmware, so you have to get into contact with the support... or is the firmware now available for public download somewhere?
