SpacePilot knob randomly stops working

Post by bwiersema »

I'm running Wildfire 4.0 on Windows XP 64bit and I'm having trouble with the navigation knob working. All of the buttons will still work, but I will be unable to pan/zoom/rotate with the knob. Sometimes if I use to mouse to rotate the model, the knob will start working again. Other times I have to close out of Pro-E and open it back up to get it working.

Hi,

Does the Cube 3D demo work at the same time as Pro/E does not work? What is your CPU doing while it does not work?

The 3D cube demo will still work.

My CPU usage was at 4-12% while this was happening. In a normal day I'm running Wildfire 4.0, Microsoft Outlook, Windows Media Player, and sometimes AutoCAD 2008.

The computer is a HP xw4400 Workstation.
Intel Core2 6600
4 GB RAM
Nvidia Quadro FX 1500

I think I can reproduce the situation at will now. I opened ProE and opened up a main assembly. Then I opened a sub assembly from that main assembly.

If I minimize my sub assembly window, and click on the desktop, and bring my sub assembly window back up, the model will not spin with the SpacePilot device.

The window is active. I clicked the green check mark to ensure that the window is active. In order to get the SpacePilot device to work again, I have to go back to the main assembly in ProE. The main assembly will rotate, when I go back to the sub assembly window I can then rotate the model again.

I also had this problem on the same computer with Wildfire2.0.

If I try to use the SpacePilot with AutoCAD, I end up spending more time opening AutoCAD back up than I do working. AutoCAD will close out without warning if I try to use the SpacePilot with commands like move or copy. I can issue the command, zoom in and pick a point, zoom back out, and when I zoom in and pick the destination point, AutoCAD closes.

I am using the 3Dconnexion software version 3.6.7
