Assign native Revit commands to spacemouse

Post by deheylen »

Can someone please tell me how to assign a native revit command to my spacemouse?

The webpage says it can be done, but gives no information on how to do it. The user manual doesn't provide any help either. Some YouTube videos make cryptic references to 3dconnexion 'software' with a mysterious 'Aplication' tab, but I sure can't find it. Maybe I'm just too thick to figure it out on my own, but that sure didn't stop 3dconnexion from taking my money. This experience has left a sour taste in my mouth.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

In order to assing revit command to you SpaceMouse please:
1. Open SmartU,
2. select your SpaceMouse
3. Click "Buttons" on the right
4. Focus on Revit
5. Click the button flyout for any button
6. In the available category list you should see revit.

Thanks for the help skmlec. At least I'm narrowing in on the problem. When I click the button flyout, there is no option for Revit, even though the spacemouse is focused on Revit (see attached screenshot)

. Do you know if there's any way to get the 3Dconnexion software to recognise Revit?

Ok, please open Add-in manager in Revit (Manage -> Add-ins).
There should be 3DxRevit visible.
Please also go to the location C:\Program Files\3Dconnexion\3DxWare on your machine and check if you have 3DxRevit folder in this location.
Which version of 3DxWare do you use?
If this add-in isn't present, please re-install 3DxWare driver.

skmlec,
Another great response. If only it worked.... I upgraded to the latest Revit (2025.4). I unnstalled the existing 3Dx, and the add-in was removed from Revit. I reinstalled the latest 3dX software (10.9.3) and the add-in appeared in the Revit add-in manager, and it was checked. When I hit a flyout on a spacemouse button however, I get the same result as last time (no native Revit commands).

I must have some bug somewhere in my system that I'm just going to have to live with. I can program most of what I want with macros but it's frustrating to not have the software for expensive devices not work as they're supposed to.

Thank you for your help, it's much appreciated.
