Lock Rotation Delay (SpaceMouse Enterprise)

Post by Borisw37 »

Recently updated the software and firmware for the SpaceMouse enterprise.
Now the "Lock Rotation" button has a slight but annoying delay of about ~1second.
Click the "Lock Rotation" button, ~1second later the blue LED lights up and rotation is truly locked.
Issue only showed up after the latest update, prior the lock was instant.

Windows 10.
3DxWare 10.9.3.3389
3DxWinCore 17.8.3.18895
SpaceMouse Enterprise FW: 4.42

Any suggestions on how to remedy the problem?

Thank you,

Boris.

How can you update to 3DxWare 10.9.3.3389? The latest version is only 10.8.3 at www.3dconnexion.com/drivers as of November 2nd 2021.
The latest SpaceMouse Enterprise firmware version is 4.42, it's never updated over the past 3 years.

It's a simple typo. The most recent version is 10.8.3.3389.

Stop the driver (Start menu > 3Dconnexion > Stop 3DxWare) and then rename the "Cfg" sub-directory in %APPDATA%\3Dconnexion\3DxWare. Afterwards, start the driver (Start menu > 3Dconnexion > Start driver) and check if the delay is still present.

The directory renaming will reset most of your driver customisations. If it resolves the delay issue, again stop the driver and copy a file from the renamed "Cfg" directory to the newly created directory. Start the driver and test. Repeat until you have found the file that appears to be causing the delay.

If renaming the directory does not fix the delay, then the problem may be a regression.

Hello 3dconnexion forum,

I've followed all the steps above but still have this problem. Is there anything else i can do to try and resolve it?

I have the same issue even after new installs which basically make the 2d lock feature unusable. It used to lock instantly on the old spaceball I used in the 90's. But progress I guess.

After 3+ years of this issue it somehow resolved it self today... Nothing has changed since yesterday, not even a windows update but somehow it works now!

Hi all,
Reviving from the dead to keep the subject up to date as I see it has been lingering for 4 years and revived in 2024.
I contacted 3dconnexion. The latest beta firmware (by the time of writing this statement) (3DxWare 10.9.5.690) has fixed this a lot. I say a lot, as there is a sub-1 second delay now, instead of an unuseable 6-8 seconds.
