We have many workstations running Windows XP Pro x64. All have USB connected SpacePilots running 3DxWare version 6.3.3.
One user has an issue with the speed of his SpacePilot, which runs fine on another workstation. We have reinstalled the 3DxWare software, reset the user's profile, configured his profile to match that of another user, reinstalled USB controllers etc... The speed is still unacceptable to the user.
Does anyone know of any performance test or debugging that we could run
What is different between the two machines? If one runs okay and the other slowly. There is some difference.
Are they using different video cards?
Does one have a newer video card driver?
Does he have his speed slider bars set differently?

Currently 3DxSoftware 3.6.7 is our latest release version.
Other possibilities:
-Anti-virus software. Sometimes they check everything coming from the USB port.
-Application logging. Some applications can log too much information to their log / trail file. All that disk access slows down the machine considerably.
All our workstations are identical hardware & software builds and all run 3DxWare 6.3.3.
I have tried many fixes including resetting 3DConnexion profiles, copying 3DConnexion profiles from a user who does not complain about performance, disabling the firewall and anti-virus, replacing Spacepilot, reinstalling USB controllers.....I could go on and on....
It might be that this is a user preceived problem. This is difficult to test as there are no other workstations near to him. I would therefore like to run some sort of performance test against the Spacepilot. Do you know of any program that can action such a test?
What is the actual complaint? What "speed" is slow? The speed his part moves across the screen (controllable in the 3DxWare GUI), speed at which the part gets redrawn (controlled by the application and the graphics card), a delay in which the application responds to changes in his input (say switching from translation to rotation), speed of the text appearing on the LCD, or something else?
The user is complaining about the speed that his parts move across the screen.
If we set the Overall Speed to full and the Advanced Settings to full the user states that this is adequate but that his SpacePilot is slower than it has worked previously. His colleagues are happy with the Overall Speed set closer to midway.
Any advice would be appreciated. If I can't find a fix, worst case is to give him a different workstation and re-image his old.
Does it really move slower than the other machines? For example, how many seconds does it take for his part cross the screen when he applies a full push vs the other machines?
The user has confirmed that with Overall Speed set to full, rotating the Jet Demo on his workstation is much slower than a colleagues who's Overall Speed is set to the third bar.
I haven't seen this myself. This is why I was hoping that their was some sort of performance testing software.
This could be a problem in his saved configs. Please stop the driver and delete the contents of %appdata%/3dconnexion/3dxware/profiles. Then restart the driver.
