Management Profile Blocking Installation

Post by ellishumphres »

I had an older Intel machine that had no issues with the SpaceMouse, but the company just updated me to an M4 Max with an updated profile set that uses PaloAlto's Coretex security and one (some?) of the profiles are blocking the installation of the extension that resides in library/system extensions. There are multiple profile "modules?" installed that do say that I should have user approval for items in the System Extensions policy, but there's one that says no user approval is allowed, so I never get the option to "allow" to software to install.

I know this isn't something anyone in the forums can solve, only my IT dept can sort this out, but if anyone is in the same boat, hopefully they can find this thread and get their IT dept to a fix.

Will update when IT gets back to me with a fix.

Update: After nearly six months of trying, CoreTex XDR and/or GlobalProtect system policies are STILL blocking the SpaceMouse from installing, and my IT department is either unwilling, or incapable of adjusting their red tape nightmare, so I guess I have three useless SpaceMice that will gather dust on the corner of my desk until I'm gone. Thanks, 3dconnexion for the years of use I got from your products; I truly enjoyed using them. Goodbye for now. Tag me if you ever migrate the mice to Logitech G hub or maybe at least allow the software to run inside my home folder vs installing for all users.

Thank you for your valuable feedback.

Other clients of us reported that their IT administration allowed a broader user profile that includes an exception for the 3Dconnexion driver extension on their macOS.

The fix was convincing IT to find each individual MDM profile that said "User Approvals Allowed: No" and changing it to "Yes."

I'M BACK, BABY!
