Hi,

I'm looking at purchasing a SpaceNavigator for Notebooks but have a particular application in mind. I know, having checked the list that the application want to use isn't natively supported.

However, is it possible for me to program the zoom, pan and rotate axes of the device to send keypresses to the application that I want to use?

The application in question, by the way is a simulation package, and I want to utilise the navigator in a 3D window that currently only responds to mouse and keyboard movement.

I did check by searching the forum, but haven't been able to find a post or manual that explicity says that the Windows driver allows me to assign key presses to device movement.

In order to map buttons the application would have to recognize the device. We have a SDK that can be usd to create a driver to use in unsupported applications. Write to the company of the Application and let them know you would like to use our device in there software.
Let them know they can download and use our SDK.

Thanks for your answer. So presumably, there isn't any way that the SpaceNavigator can natively (via the driver/Control Panel) reassign, say the rotate function to fire a "Q" or "R" keypress to an application. Or reassign the zoom to a set of mouse controls?

The application in question is a simulation package called Enterprise Dynamics. I'll ask the question but I'm not confident of an engine change for just me!

Hi,

I took the plunge anyhow and bought a SpaceNav for Notebooks at it works great with the relatively unknown simulation app that our application is based on - a real nice surprise!

For info, the application in question is:

and works great in 3D, with no 2D (as AutoCAD) support.
