Hi. I just got a spacemouse pro wireless, so far I'm loving it, however there is one MAJOR shortcoming that would be fixable with software/firmware update. I was really looking forward to the advantages of being able to setup custom radial menus. However, the way radial menus are currently implemented renders them much less efficient to the point of being almost useless for the most part.
You can use one of the programmable buttons to open a radial menu, but then you still have you use your regular mouse to select an option from the radial menu. If you already have to go to your regular mouse, it's really not a meaningful amount of additional time to just select your option directly from the regular ribbon menu built into the modeling software, unless it's some seldom used item that's buried several levels down in sub menus, but in that case who cares if it takes extra time because it's seldom used.
What I would like to see, that would make custom radial menus WAY more useful, is the ability to select an option from the radial menu using the space mouse itself. This could be implemented by suspending the ability of the controller cap to move the model when a radial menu is opened. At this point you could twist the controller cap right/left to move between the options in the radial menu, then press down on the controller cap to select/activate the highlighted option, or pull up on the controller cap to exit out of the radial menu without selecting any option. After the radial menu is closed, by either selecting an option or exiting out of the radial menu without selecting option, the controller cap would go back to controlling the model.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, can we get this most useful and logical improvement.
