Cannot add CAD commands
I've looked online and idk if I wasn't using the right keywords or something, but I couldn't find someone else with the same problem. I've been using the wired pro mouse at work for a while and have loved it. I recently got the keyboard, numpad, and the wireless pro mouse (I hate wires) and was informed of the updated driver needed for it. I updated the driver (I was previously using 10.9.8 iirc) and everything worked fine for a few hours, but now none of the commands are appearing in the driver. The driver still "reads" the software as AutoCAD (I use AutoDesk Civil 3D 2025), but I am unable to add the CAD commands to the keyboard, the numpad, the radial wheel, or to macros. I even lost the 2 radial wheels I've saved on my previous mouse.
I've already tried restarting the computer, uninstalling the driver via the control panel and reinstalled it, and even tried plugging in the previous wired mouse to see if that had anything to do with it for whatever reason, but I'm still unable to add any AutoCAD/Civil 3D command to the radial wheel or to the keyboard.

Hi Fighter11244,
Please check if 3Dconnexion plugin is loaded.
In Civil 3D you need to go select Manage in TOP menu and click Load Application.
On the list you should see 3dxautocad.arx

Re: Cannot add CAD commands
Good morning,
I checked and I do see "3dxautocad.arx" in the loaded applications. Idk if it might affect it, but I forgot to mention that I am on Windows 11.

Re: Cannot add CAD commands
Idk if this will help, but this is what it looks like when I'm tabbed into Civil 3D. The "AutoCAD" radial wheel currently selected is one of the radial wheels I made. I managed to select it before the problem occurred. I can use it without problem, but I cannot change radial wheels or change any commands.

Hi,
Have you tried to reset all you settings in the driver?
In order to do so you need to click on More menu in SmartUi, select "Reset all settings".

Re: Cannot add CAD commands
It's working now, but I have to redo all of the commands I had added which is the reason I didn't want to try this before. Also, I think I found what caused it as I remember getting this message before the problem occurred. I assumed previously that this error message was for AutoCAD, Excel, or some other program. I clicked "Continue" and thought nothing of it after trying to look through the "Details" section for what it was for and not seeing anything. After the reset and while readding the commands, it came up again so I'm pretty sure this caused it. This time I clicked "Quit" and it closed the driver. Both times it came up I was editing what commands the keys are assigned to. Next time it comes up I can paste what's in the "Details" section if you want to know what's causing the error.

Re: Cannot add CAD commands
Forgot to add that this was my second time getting that message. It didn't appear in the few months previously when I was using only the wired mouse so I think it's a problem with either the updated driver or with the keyboard, numpad, or wireless mouse itself.

Re: Cannot add CAD commands
Got the error message again and saved what was under "Details". Is there a specific place I should send this to you or is this chat thread fine?

Re: Cannot add CAD commands
Scratch what I said before. The bug just happened again where I cannot add/change the CAD commands or radial wheels and I didn't even get the error popup.

Re: Cannot add CAD commands
To add, I reset the settings and it fixed the problem again, but I don't want to have this problem every week. Do you want me to send you the error message under "Details" from the error popup? If so, where should I send it?Fighter11244 wrote: ↑Mon May 18, 2026 11:38 am Scratch what I said before. Re: Cannot add CAD commands
It broke again and I had just fixed the keybinds... I think what might be causing it is switching programs while the driver is open. The only programs I've been switching between frequently are Civil 3D 2025, Excel, Microsoft Teams, and Google Chrome.
