When I am in walk mode in Autocad 2008 or 2009, and flying around a model, Autocad will crash.
This almost always happens if I leave the pc in walk mode for a while (1/2 hour), and when I come back and continue flying - fatal crash. But also happens without leaving it idle.
This has been happening for the past year - since I have been using walk mode. Looking at the error dump files, it looks to be due to the version of the microsoft visual studio. I have looked at the different versions installed, and there are about 3 different ones. But Im not sure if it is this.
I cannot reproduce it without using my space explorer, and I am certain that it is caused by the space explorer.
I am using Version 3.6.4, I have used later ones, but had to go back to this because the newer ones dont recognise that I am running autocad - but thats not the issue. Its this crash that I want to fix.
I happens on two seperate pc's, the only difference being the motherboard and vista 64bit business.
Vista 64bit Ultimate sp1
8GB ram,
Core2duo E8500
ATI FireGL 3600
Autocad 2009 Version 2 (latest)

3DxSoftware v3.6.6 includes had a number of stability improvements for AutoCAD. What do you mean by the newer ones not recognizing that you are using AutoCAD?I am using Version 3.6.4, I have used later ones, but had to go back to this because the newer ones dont recognise that I am running autocad - but thats not the issue. When a crash occurs please make sure that the error report is sent to Autodesk. I would also like to see the crash dump
I should have mentioned that I am running a modified autocad installation - 32 bit on 64 bit os - so I can run a 32bit arx app.
I have changed video cards to a Quadro 3450, uninstalled the 2 instances of c++ visual studio 2005 (from solidworks and something else), and updated to the 3.6.8 3dxware. I wasnt able to reproduce the crash tonight, but will keep working and see if it does.
Autodesk replied asking for the secquence to reproduce the crash, but since I couldnt without using the space explorer.
I think the previous 3dxware installs assumed that since I have a 64 bit os, and acad 2009, that acad will be 64 bit also - I followed a suggestion in another thread to copy the 3dxplugins to the autocad support folder, and that seems to work a treat (I was copying into the main autocad folder). The toolbar now shows.
I will post back in a couple of days.
