spacenavigator PE "device not found" in catiaR16

Post by acwitz »

I just bought a SpaceNavigator PE and downloaded/installed the latest drivers from the 3dconnexion website. installation went smoothly but for some reason my catiaV5 R16 says "device not found" in the 3dxdevice toolbar. I believe the spacemouse is functional because it works fine with solidworks. Any ideas?.. would be great..very frustrated..

Hi acwitz,

Most likely than not you have an environment variable that disables part of CATIA and prevents the use of 3D mice in the application.

Have a look in our KB here. Follow the "Applications" and "CATIA" links.

I read the posts and I tried entering new environment variables but to no success. All that I got catia to do was not to open a product upon startup, Which is nice, but my spacenavigator PE still does not work. Is there anything else I can do? I do not want to return it, but I do not know what else to try? Anymore ideas?

Thank you

Hi acwitz,

Do you see "ADL_ODT_IN" in your Catia Environment Editor? Do you have any firewall enabled?

there is no ADL_ODT_IN found in my catia environment editor. Should there be? And what would my firewall settings have to be at? I think that they are set to allow..?

ADL_ODT_IN should be not defined, this is correct.
You can try to disable the windows firewall to see if it makes a difference.

How to turn off the Windows XP firewall (as Administrator):

A) Click on "Start - run"
B) Type "cmd" and click on Ok
C) Input the following:

Code: Select all

netsh firewall set opmode disable
You can reenable it with the following command:

Code: Select all

netsh firewall set opmode enable
