Unexpected operation in Solidworks09 - perspective mode

Hello,

I am having a crazy thing go on while using my SpacePilot in Solidworks 09. While in perspective mode, when I try and rotate my assembly or part model, it seems to go up when I want it to go down, then I try to reverse my movements and it still goes up.

This is one example. It operates in odd ways all the time while in perspective mode. There are times also when it feels like the model is rotating about a center off screen and I have to almost 'pull' the model around to get it to respond.

Didn't see any notes like this in the forum

FYI...I am working with Windows vista x64, using SW09 SP1.0

Hi pmac_burch,

Try changing the rotation point. If it is far away from the area you're working on, any small rotation will cause the 3D model to move about in large steps. The command to change the rotation point can be found on the "3Dcontrol" toolbar.

Hi,
with 2008 it's the same: movement "sometimes" does not correlate to mouse command (space explorer).

Standard view instead of perspective view helps, so thanx a lot for this one!!!! Couldn't work that irregular behaviour out yet!

Setting a center point helps temporarily, but this is lost when changing windows.

I'm correting: the center point ist not lost with changing the windows, but most of the times it will be far out of a zooming focus, so it's useless and counterproductive.

The topic is now also postet in the german windows board.

As I'm using 2008 it seems to be a driver problem of the SE and not a SWX-Problem. But one never knows...

What happens if you toggle "Auto Rotation Center" and "Keep in View" under "3Dcontrol -> Properties..."?
