SpacePilot LCD not updating button functions

Post by srrichardson »

I've installed the most recent drivers (as far as I know) but the LCD display on the Space Pilot won't update the functions of the 6 buttons. The top line will switch from saying "Any Application" to saying, say "Maya - Owner" (when switching to Maya 2009) No matter what application I'm in, though, the rest just says "1 Button 1" "2 Button 2", etc. (except 6, which is "6 Translations") Even cycling through different button mapped configurations won't change this. The buttons all function properly and execute the commands that are mapped to them, but I can't see which configuration its in at any given time so its hard to know what any of the buttons actually do. Any way to fix this, anyone else have this problem?

Hi,

It seems as the Plug-In is not loaded or not installed.

You should find all required files for Maya2009 here:

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\3Dconnexion\3Dconnexion 3DxSoftware\3DxMaya2009
Copy the Melscripts to the "scripts\startup" sub-directory of Maya, the bitmap files to the Maya "icons" directory. Then copy 3DxMaya.mll to "bin\plug-ins" and the 3DxHelp directory to "docs\ext"

In case the above mentioned folder does not exist please re-run the downloaded 3DxSoftware installer and mark "3Dconnexion Script and Plug-In for Maya" for installation.

Hey,

Plug-in was already loaded, as were the .mel files, help files, etc. Went ahead and re-copied over all the files from the 3DConnexion Maya 2009 folder to the appropriate places in the Autodesk Maya 2009 folder. Still having the same problem. The spacepilot /functions/. the buttons do what they are mapped to do and cycling will cycle the functions, the 3dconnexion buttons appear inside maya. Its just a problem with the LCD display updating. The only thing that changes is the top line which goes to "Maya - Owner" None of the button displays change with the switching to Maya, nor upon cycling through different button mappings.

You can try to do the following:

A) Stop the 3DxWare driver
B) Navigate to C:/Documents and Settings/your profile/Application Data/3Dconnexion/3DxWare/Profiles or C:/Documents and Settings/admin/Application Data/3Dconnexion/3DxWare/Profiles and rename the Profiles folder. Check both locations to be sure.

NOTE: on Vista machines the paths to the profiles will be found in C:/Users/your profile/AppData/3Dconnexion/3DxWare/Profiles or C:/Users/admin/AppData/3Dconnexion/3DxWare/Profiles.

Then start 3DxWare - does it work then?
