Anyone out there have any luck wth Planit products using any of the 3d mice? None of Planit Solutions products are listed on the support page however, I have heard of some writing VBA scripts to make mouse work. Any feedback on this would be much appreciated.

Yes i 2nd that. the panning in ACam is appalling hence i would love to use the navigator in this software. so if anyone knows about this of the user who posted this comment has since found anymore information relating to this it would be greatly appreciated if you could pass it on.KeithL wrote:Anyone out there have any luck wth Planit products using any of the 3d mice? Hi all,
At the company we are using AlphaCam too (in combination with the Eureka 'collision detection' machine simulator...we have a CMS Brembana G-REX 5 axis machine running for carving stone, and the thing needs to be fed the right NC code to do the job).
I bought a SpaceNavigator today for personal use (Blender, Autodesk Inventor), but wouldn't mind using one in AlphaCam...panning around is essential in Acam...
'The info guy' from 3DConnexion mailed us that we should get in contact with Licom (who builds AlphaCam) and Roboris (they do their Eureka stuff) and ask them if they are intrested in using the 3D connexion SDK...
Will try...but I'm not sure they will do something about it...their AlphaCam software is not that commercial in the end...
Actually...AlphaCam is not too good at all, compared to real 3D software (even open-source)...poor GUI...extremely user unfriendly drawing capabilities...far fetched workplane demands to get simple geometry drawing jobs done...very 'bugg-full'!...invisible error messages (only the window frame shows up)...no 'right-click' sub menu's...it freezes up somethimes...
I downloaded the RBC9-driver software mentioned elsewhere on this forum...seems that a fellow Belgian did some nice work back in 2007...this means the thread is still going after 2 years!

Yes Licom have all but ceased development on AlphaCAM since they have taken over, they are more interested in the kitchen cabinet software. It is full of bugs, they don't fix them, and it is unstable. I hate using the software, but at the same time i have achieved a lot with it and i'm glad my boss bought it instead of one of the most plentiful cheaper CAM packages out there. It never ceases to amaze me that Acam doesn't have a middle mouse button pan function. I can't wait to get rid of it.Toothless wrote:

Hehe, nice to read that I'm not the only one not being too satisfied with the A'cam software.
An Italian guy from Licom passed by to instruct us a bit on using A'cam, but he was more occupied with debugging the post-proccessor he wrote for our G-rex CNC machine...in the end all went reasonably well
Nowadays we know how to get around with A'cam, its 'buggy' state, and unpredictable behaviour.
Some nice and complex jobs can be done with it indeed!...

I've had a chat with the sales representative of Ithema, they sold us AlphaCam 7.5 and do the support for Belgian customers...
I plainly asked him if he couldn't pursuade Licom to add Space Navigator control to A'Cam...
He said that he saw someone using the S.N. in A'Cam during a fair somewhere in Germany!
He wil check out if he can find info about that:-)
Didn't get any news for the moment, but I'll see to it that he gets the job done!
