IE 8 Virtual Earth SN issues
Hi,
I have been using SN PE both in Google Earth and Virtual Earth for a number of months succesfull.
Recently I switched to IE 8. SN is still working in Google Earth.
But in Virtual Earth the movements are not what they used to be. There is also a difference to the movements in the 3dconnexion panel and what they are in reality.
In the panel they are ok. But when using SN what should be altitude becomes Spin.
Systems Windows Vista Home Premium.
Any one having same behavior and better any solutions?
Regards,
John

Virtual Earth is a natively supported application.
Check in the options and see if they added the ability to swap the directions.
If so this would cause the device to be reversed.
Also you could try swapping the axis in the 3d control panel and see if it switches direction or stays the same.
If it stays the same you may have to contact Microsoft and ask then where the Axis swap is located in the program.

Fred,
There is also a difference in the versions of Virtual Earth. If I use Virtual earth in my region (Europe) I have a interface in IE which no options / menu. If I switch to location USA (did not check other locations) I have more menu buttons, including options. But in these options I can not reverse the Axis or make other major adjustments.
Thanks,
John

Hi,
As a workaround you can adjust the mapping to work as expected in VirtualEarth (until it gets fixed by Microsoft).
First make sure there is a custom configuration for VE, you can save one while VE is running in the 3Dconnexion Control Panel (e.g. as "Virtual Earth - Workaround").
A) Stop the 3DxWare driver, close VE
B) in Start-Run type:
C) Open the scg-file which contains "APPLICATION_NAME = "Virtual Earth - Workaround" with wordpad
D) Go to your 3D device section (e.g. it would be [SPACENAVIGATOR] if you own a SN or [SPACEEXPLORER] if you have a SpaceExplorer...)
E) It looks like this for SpaceNavigator:
F) Replace these lines with the following:
Then start the 3DxWare driver and launch Virtual Earth, make sure "Virtual Earth - Workaround" configuration is active. Once Microsoft fixed this issue just set the configuration to "Virtual Earth" - this will reset your configuration to the default. Please let me know if this worked for you.
