Spaceball 5000 driver is not supported on XP 64 or Vista.
The Serial driver was written back in 2006 and never included support for the newer OS.

The driver works fine on Vista, **********. Just because you sell an artist's input device, don't presume that some of us aren't professional software developers, with more years experience than all you lot put together.

Uni, whatever they tell you, **********. They're trying to get you to upgrade instead of doing the support job they should be doing. I had the Spaceball 4000FLX running Max 2009 on Vista, yet if you believe them, it won't work.

Install the old software, then install the new software, but choose not to install the 3DXWare driver! This will allow just the new plugins to be installed. I think you can also do it by installing the new software, and then installing the old software over the top.

The plugins don't care what type of device is installed because the plugin is not talking to the device, it is talking to the driver. Only the driver cares about the device, which is why the argument about new software not working **********.

If I get chance, I'll try it later to let you know, I have 3 PC's, each with a different OS, so I can check on each one. I suspect that my Win 7 64-bit might be the stumbling block, although I might get hold of the DDK so I can fix their incompetence for them. There's no excuse for lack of support of old devices, it's simply willful negligence on their part.

Oh, and mods, I am copying this message to a text file, if you delete it, I'll PM the information to Uni. If you ban my account to try and stop me, I'll create a new one.
