Blender Plugin Trouble with SpaceMouse Classic Serial

Hey guys,

I've been reading through the "3Dconnexion/Blender beta feedback" thread and still can't seem to find a solution to my problem.

Here are my params:

-using Blender 2.49
-3Dconnexion software v2.8.2 for SpaceMouse classic serial
-using Windows XP Pro SP3
-python 2.5.1

I downloaded and placed the plugin in the correct folder and tree structure, but when I load up blender, in the console I get "3Dconnexion device initialization NOTsuccessful" and I can't use the space mouse.

Any ideas?

The Blender plugin is supported on USB devices only.
There was no plugin created for the Serial devices.
