Drivers fail to start

Post by ghostofrcon »

I work at a DoD contractor and many of our engineers use spaceballs, etc. I just installed a space explorer on a new x64 machine.
I restarted the machine, logged into the administrative account and the device lit up and was functional.

I logged out and the user logged in. The device did nothing. I tried to start the driver using the shortcut and it did not start. I tried to stop and restart the driver, but when trying to stop the driver it errored with "Driver not started".

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver to no avail. Even when i am logged into the administrative account the device does nothing.

Can anyone shed any light on this subject?

Unplug the device.
While unplugged hold down the 1,2 button
While holding down the 2 buttons plug the device into the usb port
(Donot use a USB hub, they cut the power down and the device may not get detected.)
Wait 15 seconds , release the 2 buttons.
Click on open 3dcontrol panel icon on the desktop.
If it opens the device is now functioning.
If not try the clean install instructions from the link below.

Sometimes the devices dont discharge and the 1,2 button trick allows it to discharge then windows can identify the device.

i am having a similar issue. i run solid edge st and esprit 2005 on my pc. ive been using the spaceball 5000 on both programs for the last 3 months. i started my computer this morning and the sb doesnt work on either. when i try to load it on the esprit add-ins, an error pops up. "cant load device dll" any thoughts on what happened or how to fix it?

Hi davidb,

Do the demos (Cube3D demo) work? If not, please check if the device is recognized by Windows.
